Herbalife was founded in 1980 by the charismatic leader, Mark Hughes. Mark had a background that was not conducive to success, unless you believe that tragedy and personal challenges shape you more than success.

Thousands of MLM companies are launched every year by entrepeneurs and only a few make it past the first year. Herbalife recently celebrated 28 years in business.

However, it was during the 20 year milestone that Mark met his untimely death due to an overdose of pain killers. It appears that the healthy lifestyle he proclaimed was clouded by personal trauma.
